Rotary Isolator Switch: Introduction
- Various electrical switching devices are used for switching high and low voltage power. Rotary isolators are used to separate any type of electrical components from the system when the system is offline or online. The switch is used to isolate the circuit by maintaining as well as preventing the flowing current, and so are called disconnectors.
- There are two types of rotary switch structures – unipole and multi-pole. Unipole switches are simply light switches. They control one circuit and offer regular on-off functions. Multi-pole rotary switches are used to switch between operating conditions.
- A rotary isolator is made of a tough flame retardant material, which is suitable for internal and external applications. It is fitted with several 22m gland knockouts and Earth and Neutral bars. There is enough internal space for cable installation and the handle can be padlocked for extra security.
- Rotary isolators can be used to switch power in commercial as well as light industrial applications, widely used in various engineering repair trucks. The red switch has an emergency stop, and can be locked in the “OFF” position using the yellow surrounding ring and padlock.
